The Kidney Care Specialist (KCS) supports patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) through early education, care navigation, and ongoing engagement. The role bridges diagnosis and informed treatment choice by providing consistent education and support across the kidney care continuum through field-based physician and community outreach and virtual patient support. Duties may be field-based, virtual, or hybrid depending on market needs. The specialist educates patients about kidney disease progression, treatment options—including home modalities and transplantation—and self-management strategies. The role works closely with nephrologists, advanced practice providers, care teams, referring practices, and internal partners to coordinate care, address barriers, support referrals, and help patients follow through on next steps. The position also documents interactions and outcomes, tracks engagement and program performance, contributes to continuous improvement of education materials and workflows, and follows applicable quality, safety, regulatory, privacy, and documentation standards. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities and works under the guidance of Kidney Care leadership in close collaboration with clinical and operational teams. The role may require extensive local or regional travel, including travel to physician groups, healthcare locations, regional business units, corporate meetings, and on-site training. Occasional evening and weekend work may be needed. The stated pay rate is $20–$35; the description does not specify a pay period or currency.
