Field/Computer Technician
About The Position
TekWissen is recruiting for a client that provides information technology solutions and services to government, financial services, and commercial markets. The Field/Computer Technician will receive service requests to repair laptops and desktop computers in the Madison, Alabama metro area and surrounding locations. Work includes component replacement, whole-unit swaps, and repair or replacement of PC peripherals. The technician must have reliable transportation and close service tickets in real time through the client’s call management system using a company-provided phone. This is a three-month temporary assignment involving driving.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of hands-on laptop and desktop break-fix experience.
- General knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware and software, including basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Ability to resolve basic or non-complex problems as directed.
- Reliable transportation for travel to service locations in the metro and surrounding areas.
- Client and/or governmental clearance may be required.
Nice To Haves
- Computer-building background experience.
- Experience replacing hardware components such as hard drives, memory, motherboards, keyboards, and peripherals.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and real-time service documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently in field service environments.
- Experience supporting desktop deployments, upgrades, and hardware refresh programs.
