About The Position

National General, part of The Allstate Corporation, provides home, auto, accident and health insurance, and specialty niche insurance products through independent agents and directly to consumers. The Field Auto Adjuster is responsible for creating or auditing comprehensive damage estimates for first- and third-party material damage claims in auto or specialty lines, guiding claims toward the proper disposition. This is a field position in Wayne County, Michigan; candidates should be local and able to travel within the Detroit area. The role also includes training and mentoring, quality control, and providing technical assistance on material damage claims. This job has no supervisory duties.

Requirements

• Candidates should be local to Wayne County, Michigan, and able to travel within the Detroit, Michigan area.
• Must possess authorization to work in the United States; the company does not sponsor work visas.

Responsibilities

• Create or audit estimates of damages on first- and third-party material damage losses of all severities.
• Apply a strong understanding of the content of all policy types written by the company.
• Negotiate settlements, make settlement payments, and document activities in the most complex files across multiple lines.
• Evaluate settlement alternatives for regulatory compliance and fair claims practices, and decide on the best option.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers across multiple lines.
• Train and mentor others, control quality, and provide technical assistance on material damage claims.
