Field Application Engineer
About The Position
Heyco is seeking a Field Application Engineer to provide technical support and serve as a liaison between the company and customers and their engineering departments. The role develops and coordinates strategic plans for new product concepts and associated testing, and recommends improvements to products, processes, and performance. The engineer will support key customers in the Industrial market and potentially specialize across multiple market segments using Heyco’s portfolio of eight product categories. The position partners with customers and internal design engineering to create custom product applications and adaptations. It coordinates with domestic and international teams across Sales, Marketing, New Product Innovation, Manufacturing, and Engineering, and supports customers through design reviews, technical presentations, application testing, and quotation information. The role requires 50% travel throughout North America and the ability to work professionally with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology.
- At least two years of engineering design experience, including experience using 3D modeling software.
- Ability to coordinate engineering activities within a sales and marketing function.
- Effective communication and presentation skills across regions and cultures, internally and externally.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain professionalism with customers and internal teams.
- Proven project leadership capability.
- A successful record of completing Sales/Marketing or Engineering assignments.
- Strong working knowledge of techniques and materials used in injection molding manufacturing.
- Passport and ability to travel throughout North America by air.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to reasonably engage in local travel by automobile.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles, training, and knowledge to assigned duties, with an emphasis on mechanical problem solving.
- Serve as the voice of the customer for assigned accounts and manage long-term, data-driven projects.
- Collaborate with customers and Heyco design engineering to develop new product applications, adaptations, and custom design solutions.
- Maintain technical competency in designing custom products and use quoting, CAD, and enterprise system tools.
- Maintain awareness of Manufacturing, Quality, New Product Innovation, Sales, and Marketing disciplines relevant to customer applications.
- Recommend improvements to product design, manufacturability, quoting processes, and productivity to the direct supervisor.
- Coordinate and collaborate with domestic and international Sales, Marketing, New Product Innovation, Manufacturing, and engineering teams.
- Conduct product and technical presentations.
- Review designs with Engineering and Manufacturing for approval and suggestions.
- Coordinate application testing and specifications with Heyco and the customer, representative, or distributor.
- Supply technical information for customer quotations.
- Perform duties professionally and with minimal supervision.
