About The Position

The Fiber Installation Technician performs hands-on field work installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, and disconnecting cable services, including video, data, and telephone. The role works with fiber-optic and coaxial cable systems and related equipment; some service areas require supporting dual-platform environments using both technologies. Work must follow established safety policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. The technician installs, splices, and terminates fiber-optic cables and connectors; tests and troubleshoots connections; performs maintenance and repairs; responds to outages; documents work and network configurations; manages inventory; and provides professional customer service and technical support. The role also involves coordinating with colleagues on technical issues and network expansion, keeping job knowledge current through training, mentoring new employees as needed, and accurately reporting time and performance. This is a field role requiring daily travel and driving to job sites and customer homes. Work takes place outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather, at heights including poles, roofs, ladders, and bucket trucks, and may involve moderate noise, animals, construction areas, and the public. The schedule may vary and can include nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime; hours may include 10-hour days four days per week and fluctuate seasonally. MasTec Advanced Technologies offers paid training, tools, a uniform, a work van and gas card, benefits options, paid time off, and a promotion path to Field Technician Supervisor and Site Manager.
