Fiber Installation Technician
About The Position
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Fiber Installation Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fiber-optic services for residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate has fiber-optic installation experience, understands basic networking and telecommunications principles, provides excellent customer service, and completes quality work safely and efficiently. This is a field-based position involving daily travel to residential and commercial customer locations. Technicians work independently, manage daily assignments, and adapt to changing job-site conditions. The role requires physical work in locations such as attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments, and in varying weather conditions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous fiber-optic installation or telecommunications experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of fiber-optic networks and broadband technology.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment.
- Knowledge of fiber connectors, cable routing, and termination practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening, if required.
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.

Responsibilities
- Install fiber-optic cables, equipment, and related hardware at residential and commercial properties.
- Perform fiber drops, cable routing, and terminations.
- Install and configure Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), routers, and related networking equipment.
- Perform fiber splicing, connectorization, and testing as required.
- Test fiber connections using optical power meters, light sources, and OTDR equipment.
- Troubleshoot fiber-optic signal issues, connectivity problems, and equipment failures.
- Run cables through walls, ceilings, attics, crawl spaces, and underground pathways when necessary.
- Ensure installations meet company standards, customer expectations, and industry requirements.
- Maintain accurate installation records, job notes, photographs, and equipment documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding installation procedures and service expectations.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures, including ladder, PPE, and job-site safety requirements.
- Complete assigned installations within established timeframes while maintaining installation quality and minimizing repeat service calls.
- Meet company productivity and quality standards, maintain professional appearance and customer service standards, and properly document completed work.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and represent the company professionally at each customer location.
