About The Position

The Fast & Fresh Clerk provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service; operates the cash register accurately and scans products; and helps maintain store cleanliness, product quality and quantity, and supply levels in the store and at the pumps. The role assists customers, supports inventory and merchandise receiving and stocking, and carries out cleaning and lot-maintenance duties. It is a fast-paced position with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and dampness, and possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and cleaning chemicals and solvents. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to solve practical problems involving a variety of variables with limited standardization and to interpret instructions.
Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data between records; interview people to obtain basic information; and provide basic guidance and direction.
Ability to perform medium physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Ability to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Visual ability, with or without correction, to see at distances from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, including depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Availability for required night and weekend shifts.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, efficient, friendly, and helpful customer service, including greeting customers, assisting them with products and heavy items, responding to telephone inquiries, and conveying customer suggestions or requests.
Work cooperatively with coworkers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Operate the cash register accurately, scan products where applicable, report improper cash levels, process payments and coupons, calculate discounts, count back change, and issue receipts.
Bag or box merchandise and give packages to customers.
Assist with department inventory; receive and check in merchandise, put products away, stock shelves, fill displays, and review invoices as needed.
Maintain the lot, including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, hosing down the lot, filling outside towel holders, and replenishing or refreshing window washer fluid.
Remove trash inside and outside in a timely manner.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and neat, including cleaning registers, restrooms, break room, and backroom, and sweeping and mopping floors.
Maintain required personal hygiene and dress, and follow company policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
Order merchandise and supplies as needed and price products for customers as necessary.
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
