Face to Face Interpreter - Thai / Laotian / Khmer / Cambodian / Korean
About The Position
Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is seeking face-to-face interpreters fluent in English and Thai, Taishanese, Laotian, Khmer, Cambodian, and/or Korean. Interpreters assist people during medical, social service, and other appointments. This is in-person interpretation only—not video or telephone interpretation. Contractors choose their own schedules and may accept as many or as few available assignments as they wish. Assignments are available 24/7/365, although most are requested during business hours. The role offers an opportunity to earn money by using bilingual skills to support people who speak the languages or dialects listed.
Requirements
- Be located in the Central Ohio area.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening; the posting states these are provided at no cost to the applicant.
- Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training through an accredited program, such as Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters’ Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
- Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
- Be bilingual in English and at least one of the following: Thai, Taishanese, Laotian, Khmer, Cambodian, or Korean.
