About The Position

Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is seeking English-Dari bilingual interpreters for face-to-face assignments in medical, social service, and other appointment settings. This role involves using language skills to assist people who speak Dari. It is not a video or telephone interpretation position.

The position is offered on a contractor basis with a flexible, self-selected schedule. Assignments are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year-round, although most are requested during business hours. Interpreters may accept as many or as few available assignments as they choose, and earnings depend on the assignments taken. Previous professional interpretation experience is not required. Applicants must be located in Central Ohio.

Requirements

• Be located in the Central Ohio area.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening.
• Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training through an accredited program, such as Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
• Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
• Speak English and Dari.

Responsibilities

• Interpret face-to-face during medical, social service, and other types of appointments.
• Assist people who speak Dari by using English-Dari bilingual language skills.
• Choose a schedule and accept available assignments as desired.
