Face to Face Interpreter - Dari
About The Position
Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is seeking English–Dari interpreters to provide in-person interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments. This role involves face-to-face interpretation only, not video or telephone interpretation. The company is based in downtown Columbus and provides interpretation and translation services locally and nationwide. This is a contractor role with a flexible schedule: interpreters choose their own hours and may accept as many or as few available assignments as they wish. Assignments are available 24/7/365, although most are requested during business hours. Earnings depend on the number of assignments accepted. Previous professional interpretation experience is not required; English as a second language is welcome.
Requirements
- Be located in the Central Ohio area.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass a federal fingerprint-based criminal background check and a 10-panel drug screening; the posting states these are provided at no cost to the applicant.
- Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training through an accredited program, such as Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
- Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
- Speak English and Dari.
