Face to Face Interpreter – Soninke
About The Position
Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is seeking a Soninke language interpreter for in-person interpretation assignments in the Central Ohio area. Interpreters assist people during medical, social service, and other appointments. This is a contractor opportunity with a flexible schedule: interpreters choose their availability and may accept as many or as few assignments as they wish. Assignments are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year-round, although most are requested during business hours. Higher rates may be offered to individuals with more experience. Previous professional interpretation experience is not required. Applicants must speak English and Soninke; English as a second language is welcome.
Requirements
- Be located in the Central Ohio area.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass a fingerprint-based federal criminal background check and a 10-panel drug screening; these are provided at no cost to the applicant.
- Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training from an accredited program, such as Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
- Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
- Speak English and Soninke.
