About The Position

Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is seeking a Swahili interpreter to provide in-person interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments. This is face-to-face work, not video or telephone interpretation. Interpreters choose their own schedules and can accept as many or as few available assignments as they wish. Assignments are available 24/7/365, although most are requested during business hours. The role offers an opportunity to earn money while using bilingual skills to help people who speak Swahili. Applicants do not need previous professional interpretation experience, and people who speak English as a second language are welcome.

Requirements

• Be located in the Central Ohio area.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening; both are provided at no cost to the applicant.
• Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training from an accredited program, such as Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
• Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
• Speak English and Swahili.
