About The Position

A growing interpreting service provider is seeking qualified, fully bilingual Swahili interpreters to provide in-person interpretation for local clients in the Boston area. This is an independent contractor position with flexible, as-needed hours. Work availability may be sporadic and depends on the interpreter’s language skills, availability, and client needs; hours are not guaranteed. Applicants must have some availability Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., when services are typically needed. Interpreters must attend local appointments in person and have transportation. Video-call setup is also needed for services as required. Applicants should include all languages they speak in their resume.

Requirements

Be fully bilingual.
Have excellent communication and listening skills.
Be familiar with medical terminology.
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Have transportation to attend local appointments.
Have technical skills to learn and use an online portal, including printing and uploading vouchers.
Have access to a printer.
Have interpreting experience and certification; both are required.
Have some availability Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Complete required background checks.
Include all languages spoken in the resume.
Be prepared for an independent contractor role with flexible, as-needed hours that are not guaranteed.
