About The Position

Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is hiring a Nepali-language interpreter to provide in-person interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments. This role is face-to-face only, not video or telephone interpretation. Interpreters use their bilingual skills to assist people who speak Nepali, and assignments may be available throughout the week and year. Most assignments are requested during business hours.

This contractor role offers flexible scheduling: interpreters choose their own schedules and may accept as many or as few available assignments as they wish. Earnings depend on the assignments accepted, and higher rates may be offered to interpreters with more experience. Applicants do not need prior professional interpretation experience, and speakers of English as a second language are welcome.

Requirements

• Be located in the Central Ohio area.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening; the posting states these are provided at no cost to the applicant.
• Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training through an accredited program.
• Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
• Speak English and Nepali.

Nice To Haves

• Previous professional interpretation experience is not required.
• Applicants who speak English as a second language are welcome.
• More interpretation experience may qualify an interpreter for higher rates.
