About The Position

Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is seeking Portuguese-language interpreters for in-person (not video or telephone) assignments in the Central Ohio area. Interpreters assist people during medical, social service, and other appointments. This contractor role offers a self-selected schedule, with assignments available 24/7/365, although most are requested during business hours. Interpreters may accept as many or as few assignments as they choose, and earnings depend on the number of assignments accepted. Previous professional interpretation experience is not required. The company also welcomes applicants who speak English as a second language.

Requirements

• Be located in the Central Ohio area.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening; the posting states these are provided at no cost to the applicant.
• Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training through an accredited program.
• Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
• Speak English and Portuguese.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face Portuguese interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments.
• Accept available assignments according to the schedule and workload chosen by the interpreter.
