About The Position
The Extra Board position is an entry-level general labor role that assists with mill operations and appearance and provides rotational support in Utility, Conveyor, and Scale. Employees cannot bid down into this position. The role includes cleaning and upkeep of facilities, equipment, streets, and walkways; supporting shipping activities; and assisting with other work as needed. Employees must work safely after completing extensive safety training, follow established area SOPs, and communicate problems and work-order needs to the foreman.
Requirements
- High school diploma or HSE.
- Ability to work safely after completing extensive safety training relevant to a paper mill manufacturing environment.
- Ability to follow established area SOPs.
- Ability to operate powered industrial vehicles and complete a comprehensive inspection.
- Ability to complete training and safely demonstrate assigned duties.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote area.
Responsibilities
- Work safely after completing extensive safety training on OSHA-required subjects related to a paper mill manufacturing environment.
- Follow all established area SOPs.
- Operate powered industrial vehicles and complete a comprehensive vehicle inspection.
- Complete training and safely demonstrate the ability to perform assigned duties.
- Clean facilities, streets, and walkways; clean dryer hoods daily; empty oil drums; maintain drains; clean up stock spills; power wash machinery; and paint equipment and guards.
- Assist in the shipping department on a rotational basis, including sweeping trailers as required and laying out anti-friction mats.
- Support outages as required.
- Assist the Shipping Operator with loading trucks, stacking rolls, putting rolls away, and repairing damaged rolls.
- Perform miscellaneous work for the foreman as necessary.
- Work independently in a remote area and communicate problems to the foreman.
- Provide the foreman with needed work orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
