About The Position
The Extra Board position is an entry-level general labor role that assists with the operation and appearance of the mill. The employee also provides rotational assistance in Utility, Conveyor, Scale, and the shipping department. Employees cannot bid down into this position. The role requires safe work after extensive safety training covering OSHA-required subjects relevant to a paper mill manufacturing environment. The employee follows established area SOPs, operates powered industrial vehicles, completes vehicle inspections, and demonstrates the ability to perform assigned duties safely. The position is not supervisory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or HSE.
- Complete extensive safety training in OSHA-required subjects relevant to a paper mill manufacturing environment.
- Follow established area SOPs.
- Operate powered industrial vehicles and complete a comprehensive vehicle inspection.
- Complete training and safely demonstrate the ability to perform assigned duties.
- Work independently in a remote area and communicate effectively with the foreman.
Responsibilities
- Clean facilities, streets, and walkways.
- Clean dryer hoods daily.
- Empty oil drums and maintain drains to ensure unimpeded operations.
- Clean up stock spills and power wash machinery.
- Paint equipment and guards.
- Assist in the shipping department on a rotational basis.
- Sweep out trailers as required and lay out anti-friction mats.
- Support outages as required.
- Assist the Shipping Operator by loading trucks, stacking rolls, putting rolls away, and repairing damaged rolls.
- Perform miscellaneous work as needed for the foreman.
- Work independently in a remote area and communicate problems to the foreman.
- Provide the foreman with needed work orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
