About The Position
The Extra Board position is an entry-level general labor role responsible for supporting the operation and appearance of the mill. The employee also assists with Utility, Conveyor, and Scale duties on a rotational basis. Employees cannot bid down into this position. The role requires working safely in a paper mill manufacturing environment after extensive training in applicable OSHA safety subjects, following established area SOPs, operating powered industrial vehicles, and completing their required inspections. Duties include cleaning facilities and equipment, supporting shipping operations, assisting with roll handling and repairs, and supporting outages as required. The employee works independently in remote areas and communicates problems and needed work orders to the foreman.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or HSE.
- Ability to complete required training and safely perform assigned duties.
- Ability to work safely in a paper mill manufacturing environment and follow established SOPs.
Responsibilities
- Work safely after receiving extensive training in OSHA-required subjects relevant to a paper mill manufacturing environment.
- Follow established area SOPs.
- Operate powered industrial vehicles and complete comprehensive vehicle inspections.
- Complete training and safely demonstrate the ability to perform assigned duties.
- Clean facilities, streets, and walkways; clean dryer hoods daily; empty oil drums; maintain drains; clean stock spills; power-wash machinery; and paint equipment and guards.
- Assist in the shipping department on a rotational basis, sweep trailers as required, and lay out anti-friction mats.
- Support outages as required.
- Assist the Shipping Operator with loading trucks, stacking and putting away rolls, and repairing damaged rolls.
- Perform miscellaneous work as directed by the foreman.
- Work independently in remote areas and communicate problems to the foreman.
- Provide the foreman with needed work orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
