About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking an Excavator Operator to join its team in Decatur, Alabama. The position operates power-driven machinery to move dirt and other materials, and may involve operating an excavator, backhoe, bulldozer, dragline, front-end loader, motor grader, dump truck, or other equipment. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman. Duties are assigned according to specific procedures and work is checked frequently.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
General knowledge of civil construction and excavation.
General knowledge of maintaining level grade at defined elevations.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required.
NCCCO or NCCER certifications may be required.
Must complete a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

Operate power-driven equipment to move dirt and other materials.
Operate one or more types of equipment, including excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, draglines, front-end loaders, motor graders, and dump trucks.
Move equipment controls using hand and foot levers.
Interpret hand signals to determine where materials should be placed.
Read and interpret load charts.
Assemble or disassemble equipment or materials at maintenance or construction sites, as required.
Manipulate equipment on uneven working surfaces, as required.
Perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines or equipment.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Comply with company and client job-site safety requirements.
