About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking a Laborer in Decatur, Alabama. The role assists skilled construction workers with their assigned duties and performs a variety of construction-related tasks. It is a non-exempt position reporting to the Foreman. Duties are assigned according to specific procedures and are checked frequently.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow instructions without being distracted.
• Pass a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Meet job-site safety requirements set by the client, which may include being clean shaven and wearing long sleeves and steel-toe boots.
• Use safety equipment as required by the client, which may include a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, and safety harness with lanyard.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled construction workers in performing their assigned duties.
• Dig, spread, and level dirt and gravel.
• Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies.
• Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
• Mix, spread, or pour concrete, asphalt, gravel, or other materials.
• Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe.
• Perform non-machine tasks such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, and placing culvert sections in trenches.
• Work on one task or move between tasks as the project progresses.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by a supervisor.
