About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking a Scaffold Builder for a position in Decatur, Alabama. The role assembles, positions, modifies, and dismantles scaffolding according to job specifications. It is a non-exempt position reporting to a Frontline Supervisor (Leadman or foreman). Duties are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. The role may involve assembling guardrails, mid-rails, braces, planks, toe boards, screens, wheels, hard barricades, strong backs, engineered scaffolds, and stairways. Employees must comply with company and client job-site safety requirements and complete a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy. Compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience. Benefits vary depending on employment status.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent.
One to four years of experience in the specified skill, depending on mechanic level.
Complete a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Nice To Haves

Ability to read engineered drawings.
Ability to operate different types of forklifts.
National certification; may be required by the client.

Responsibilities

Inspect surfaces for holes, objects, and levelness.
Assemble scaffolds, including guardrails, mid-rails, braces, planks, toe boards, screens, and/or wheels.
Position scaffolds by rolling them into place or erecting them in place.
Secure scaffolds to permanent structures when required.
Assemble other types of structures as needed, such as hard barricades, strong backs, engineered scaffolds, and stairways.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Comply with company and client job-site safety requirements.
