About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking an Excavator Operator to join its Specialty Services team in Decatur, Alabama. The position operates power-driven machinery used to move dirt or other materials. Equipment may include excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, draglines, front-end loaders, motor graders, and dump trucks. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman. Duties are assigned according to specific procedures and work is checked frequently.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
General knowledge of civil construction and excavation.
General knowledge of maintaining a level grade at defined elevations.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required.
NCCCO or NCCER certifications may be required.
Must complete a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

Operate power-driven machinery to move dirt or other materials.
Operate equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, draglines, front-end loaders, motor graders, and dump trucks, as assigned.
Use hand and foot levers to control diesel, electric, and gasoline equipment.
Interpret hand signals to determine where materials should be placed.
Read and interpret load charts.
Assemble or disassemble equipment or materials at maintenance or construction sites, as needed.
Manipulate equipment on uneven working surfaces, as required.
Clean, grease, oil, and perform other maintenance on machines and equipment, as needed.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Comply with company and client job-site safety requirements.
