About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking a Finish Dozer Operator to join its Specialty Services team in Decatur, Alabama. The position operates power-driven machinery to move dirt or other materials and to shave and grade surfaces to exact blueprints and grade stakes. This is a non-exempt role. The operator’s assigned duties follow specific procedures and are checked frequently.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Required experience operating a finish dozer.
Required heavy equipment operation experience, including bulldozers, dump trucks, and loaders.
Pass a pre-employment qualification test.
Complete a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation; vision of 20/40, with or without correction, is required.
Successfully complete job site orientation.
Comply with all client-required job site safety requirements, which may include being clean-shaven and wearing long sleeves and steel-toe boots.
Use safety equipment required by the client, such as a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, and safety harness with lanyard.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

Operate power-driven machinery to move dirt and other materials and shave and grade surfaces to blueprints and grade stakes.
Move hand and foot levers to control diesel-, electric-, gasoline-, or steam-powered equipment.
Interpret hand signals to determine where materials should be placed.
Read and interpret load charts.
Assemble or disassemble equipment or materials on construction projects as needed.
Manipulate equipment on uneven working surfaces when required.
Perform equipment maintenance such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines or equipment.
