About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking an Excavator Operator to join its team in Decatur, Alabama. This non-exempt position operates power-driven machinery used to move dirt and other materials. Equipment may include an excavator, backhoe, bulldozer, dragline, front-end loader, motor grader, and dump truck. Work is assigned according to specific procedures and checked frequently. The position reports to the Foreman.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
General knowledge of civil construction and excavation.
General knowledge of maintaining level grade at defined elevations.
A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required.
NCCCO or NCCER certifications may be required.
Must complete a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation and sign acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

Operate power-driven machinery to move dirt and other materials.
Operate equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, draglines, front-end loaders, motor graders, and dump trucks, as assigned.
Use hand and foot levers to control diesel, electric, and gasoline equipment.
Interpret hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed.
Read and interpret load charts.
Assemble or disassemble equipment or material at maintenance or construction sites, as needed.
Manipulate equipment on uneven working surfaces, as required.
Perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines and equipment.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Comply with company and client job-site safety requirements.
