About The Position

Roto-Rooter is hiring an Excavation Technician to perform residential and commercial excavation work for sewer and water service repairs and replacements. The role involves resolving plumbing issues caused by compromised or broken plumbing lines. The stated average earnings are $65,000–$80,000, with pay increasing with experience; some technicians earn over $100,000 per year.

The position requires operating excavation machinery, completing pipe repairs or installations, working in confined spaces and open trenches, and safely traveling between job sites. Employees must follow OSHA and Roto-Rooter safety protocols, interact with customers as needed, and complete jobs within specified timelines. A flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, may be required.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in excavation projects in residential and commercial construction settings.
• Valid driver's license.
• A commercial driver's license, depending on the vehicle driven; a current CDL or ability to obtain one within 90 days if necessary.
• Proficiency navigating excavation environments, including confined spaces and trench operations, efficiently and effectively.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, to meet the demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Strictly adhere to OSHA and Roto-Rooter safety protocols.
• Interact with customers as needed.
• Perform residential and commercial excavation work, followed by pipe repairs or new pipe installations.
• Operate backhoes, mini-excavators, skid steers, and other excavation machinery equipped with scoops, shovels, or buckets to excavate and load loose materials.
• Work in confined spaces and open trenches.
• Locate and arrive at job sites in a timely manner.
• Safely drive and operate a service vehicle between job sites.
• Complete jobs within specified timelines.
