About The Position

Beehive is seeking an Excavation Apprentice to support residential and commercial excavation, digging, trenching, and installation projects involving underground plumbing, sewer, and utility work. The apprentice works under experienced equipment operators and plumbers, preparing job sites, using tools, and developing trade skills through hands-on experience, mentorship, training, and jobsite safety meetings. This is an entry point into the trades for someone interested in growing into an excavation or equipment operator role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No experience required; training is provided.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work outdoors, and perform physical labor daily.
• Comfort working in trenches, crawlspaces, and around heavy equipment.
• Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.
• Plumbing license.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site preparation, trenching, and backfilling on excavation jobs.
• Hand dig in areas with limited machine access as needed.
• Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment.
• Spot and guide equipment operators to help maintain jobsite safety.
• Clean and maintain tools, trailers, and equipment after use.
• Follow safety protocols, signage requirements, and dig regulations.
• Support plumbers and operators with pipe placement, measurements, and inspections.
• Attend required training and jobsite safety meetings.
