About The Position

Securitas is seeking part-time Event Security Officers to support a variety of events in the Newport News area. This is an as-needed position with frequent event opportunities. Officers help maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring and patrolling assigned locations, preserving order, and enforcing site-related regulations and directives. They observe and report activities and incidents and may provide customer service and information to client employees and customers. No prior experience is necessary, and training is provided. Retail, food service, or hospitality experience may be a good fit.

Requirements

Must be available to work every weekend.
Must have a flexible schedule and be able to cover assigned events as needed.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must pass a drug screen and background check.
Must meet and continue to meet applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers/Guards.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role, including frequent sitting, standing, and walking, potentially for long periods, and possibly climbing stairs and walking on inclines and uneven terrain.
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

One year of security experience is preferred but not required.
Retail, food service, or hospitality industry background is considered a good fit.

Responsibilities

Support events in the Newport News area as assigned and as needed.
Observe and report activities and incidents at assigned client sites.
Monitor and patrol locations to help maintain a safe and secure environment for client property and personnel.
Preserve order and enforce regulations and directives pertaining to personnel, visitors, and the site.
Provide customer service and information to client employees and customers.
