About The Position

Securitas is seeking part-time, as-needed Event Security Officers to support a variety of events in the Newport News area. Frequent event opportunities are available. Officers help maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring premises and patrolling locations, observing and reporting activities and incidents, protecting client property and personnel, and enforcing site regulations and directives. They may also provide customer service and information to client employees and customers. The position requires availability every weekend, a flexible schedule, and the ability to cover assigned events as needed. No experience is necessary; training is provided. Pay is $16.50–$17.00 per hour, with weekly pay.

Requirements

• Must be available to work every weekend.
• Must have a flexible schedule and be able to cover assigned events as needed.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must pass a drug screen and background check.
• Must be able to meet and continue to meet applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers/Guards.
• Must be able to perform the stated physical activities, including frequent sitting, standing, and walking, sometimes for long periods, and potentially climbing stairs and walking on inclines and uneven terrain; frequent lifting or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• One year of security experience is preferred but not required.
• Retail, food service, or hospitality industry experience is a good fit, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report activities and incidents at assigned client sites.
• Monitor premises and patrol locations to help maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Protect client property and personnel.
• Preserve order and enforce regulations and directives for the client site, including those pertaining to personnel, visitors, and the area.
• Provide customer service and information to client employees and customers.
• Cover assigned events as needed.
