About The Position
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform used by companies worldwide to accept payments, grow revenue, and pursue new business opportunities. Its mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. Commerce Systems provides a central entry point for Stripe teams to monetize products in global markets. The organization builds platforms and services to define and manage pricing, calculate and collect Stripe’s revenue, and help Stripe and its users understand and manage revenue and costs. Its work spans customer-facing experiences, internal platforms, and data pipelines that support Accounting, Finance, Strategy, Sales, and Stripe’s Products throughout the user and product lifecycle. The Engineering Manager will lead a team within Commerce Systems. The role focuses on increasing billing-platform self-service to accelerate product development, launching pricing and monetization capabilities, ensuring rigorous and predictable billing outcomes, and enabling finance, strategy, and accounting partners to understand business performance. The manager will work with leaders across product, engineering, sales, finance, strategy, accounting, tax, and compliance to influence company strategy.
Requirements
- 10+ years of total engineering experience, including at least 4 years of management experience.
- Successfully led high-complexity teams of 8 or more engineers working in parallel on multiple high-impact areas.
- Experience thriving in cross-functional environments, with rigorous thinking and effective decision-making.
- Successfully recruited, mentored, and built high-performing teams, creating an inclusive environment that attracts diverse talent and empowers individuals to thrive.
- Ability to operate with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, take ownership of projects, and drive initiatives that contribute to organizational success.
- Ability to work effectively with partners in geographically distributed organizations, promoting clear communication and collaboration across time zones.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and persuasively and foster collaboration.

- Experience building or improving platforms that empower other developers, optimizing for self-service and extensibility.
