About The Position

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform serving businesses, with a mission to increase the GDP of the internet. The Agentic Payments team is building APIs and integration experiences for agentic commerce, responding to consumer-facing AI experiences and new online purchasing models. Following the launch of Instant Checkout in collaboration with OpenAI, the team is extending these experiences to AI agents and sellers.

As Engineering Manager on Agentic Commerce, you will shape and deliver products that transform commerce by making it more fluid, automated, and aligned with user intent. You will work closely with product management, design, data science, and marketing to identify opportunities for customers and partners globally. The work includes creating an integration model through which AI agents can use Stripe to reach connected sellers, while Stripe simplifies financial and e-commerce complexity. This involves developing API primitives, dashboard surfaces, and integrations across Stripe’s ecosystem.

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• Computer science background and hands-on development expertise.
• AI-native, with comfort autonomously solving problems using agentic AI tools.
• Proven experience coaching and developing senior- and staff-level individual contributors.
• Demonstrated experience leading initiatives that span multiple teams and large engineering organizations, influencing technology roadmap planning and execution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to structure ambiguous concepts clearly and from first principles.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment with different functions, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
• Deep empathy for users, balancing autonomy and guidance in digital commerce experiences.

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of engineering management experience.
• Experience building APIs or new user integration experiences, including enterprise-grade experiences.
• Experience as a founding team member of a business or startup, taking a product from 0 to 1.
• Experience in e-commerce and/or payments.

Responsibilities

• Build full-stack solutions across Stripe’s ecosystem, including backend services, dashboard interfaces, money movement systems, and integrations with other Stripe primitives.
• Partner with product management and design to ship high-impact features that increase user autonomy and reduce friction.
• Use data and analytical skills to test hypotheses and make informed trade-offs; set team success metrics and ensure solutions are enterprise-grade and meet Stripe’s reliability SLOs quickly.
• Collaborate with Stripe platform and product teams to integrate agentic commerce capabilities seamlessly.
• Engage directly with users, particularly large enterprises, to understand business needs and translate requirements into novel product shapes.
