About the position
The job overview for the role of Engineering Manager I at Accurx is to create an environment where engineers can thrive and grow. The primary focus of this role is to manage a team of software engineers, supporting them from onboarding to performance and progression. The Engineering Manager will also be responsible for fostering a culture of learning, building stakeholder relationships, shaping engineering culture, and contributing to projects that help the engineering organization scale and grow. Additionally, the Engineering Manager will play a crucial role in the hiring process and contribute to the development of the company's interview framework.
Responsibilities
- Onboarding new engineers and ensuring their successful integration into the company and engineering team
- Conducting regular performance reviews and goal-setting conversations with direct reports
- Providing coaching and feedback to engineers to help them progress in their careers
- Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the Career Progression Framework and updating it as needed
- Promoting a culture of learning and development within the engineering team
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the engineering team
- Incorporating Accurx values into all aspects of engineering work
- Contributing to projects that support the scaling and growth of the engineering organization
- Participating in interviews and helping to improve the hiring process
- Communicating and motivating the company mission and vision to the teams worked with
- Running internal Hackathons and other initiatives to foster innovation and collaboration within the engineering team.
Requirements
- Experience in managing software engineers and leading engineering teams
- Ability to create an environment where engineers can thrive and grow
- Strong people management skills
- Familiarity with onboarding processes and ensuring new engineers are integrated into the team effectively
- Experience in performance management and providing regular feedback to direct reports
- Knowledge of career progression frameworks and ability to guide engineers in their career development
- Ability to foster a culture of learning and encourage continuous development among engineers
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to build relationships with various teams and departments
- Understanding of company mission and vision and ability to communicate and motivate them to the engineering team
- Experience in shaping engineering culture and maintaining company values
- Involvement in projects to scale and grow the engineering organization
- Experience in conducting interviews and contributing to the hiring process
- Ability to attract and retain diverse talent
- Strong communication and workshop facilitation skills
