About The Position

The Emerging Store Manager (ESM) is a developmental leadership assignment intended to prepare associates for potential Store Manager opportunities in Walmart US store operations. The assignment has no guaranteed timeframe and is expected to last no longer than 12 to 18 months, with the expectation of progressing into a Store Manager position. Associates must be willing to maintain mobility within their assigned region for Store Manager applications and potential placement. If a Store Manager role is not secured within that period, next steps will depend on performance and business needs and may include placement in another role at a different level. Successful completion of developmental milestones and competency assessments is required. The ESM trains and develops across retail operations, people leadership, merchandising, financial management, customer experience, and community engagement. The role supports store financial performance, sales and merchandise execution, staffing and talent planning, associate development, customer service, community outreach, safety, asset protection, and implementation of business plans. It also supports the store management team, builds stakeholder relationships, ensures compliance with company policies and standards, and contributes to Walmart’s mission, values, ethics, and integrity. The annual salary range is $65,000 to $110,000, with additional annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Certain positions may also receive regional pay zone or complex structure compensation. The position is based at 6520 Memphis Arlington Road, Bartlett, Tennessee. Walmart states that it maintains a drug-free workplace and prohibits illegal drugs and alcohol on the job.
