About The Position

The Emerging Store Manager (ESM) is a developmental leadership assignment intended to prepare associates for potential Store Manager opportunities within Walmart US store operations. The role provides training and development across retail operations, people leadership, merchandising, financial management, customer experience, and community engagement. The assignment has no guaranteed timeframe but is expected to conclude within 12 to 18 months, with progression into a Store Manager role anticipated. Associates must be willing to maintain mobility within their assigned region for Store Manager applications and potential placement. Progress is evaluated through developmental milestones and competency assessments; if a Store Manager role is not secured within the expected timeframe, next steps depend on performance and business needs and may involve placement in another role at a different level. The ESM learns to manage store financial performance, monitor sales and profit goals, analyze economic trends and community needs, forecast budgets, and use business reports and profit-and-loss statements. The role supports merchandise presentation, pricing, signing, in-stock levels, inventory, staffing plans, talent pipelines, and succession planning. It also models customer service, helps resolve customer concerns, participates in community outreach, promotes company programs and sustainability efforts, and represents Walmart in relationships with community stakeholders. The position supports the store management team by communicating objectives, monitoring performance, providing feedback, identifying development needs, and ensuring policy compliance. Responsibilities also include interpreting reports, implementing asset protection and safety controls, maintaining quality assurance, overseeing operational reviews, and developing action plans to correct deficiencies. The ESM executes business plans and projects, removes barriers to performance, measures progress, adapts plans, and builds partnerships with stakeholders across the organization. The role also supports associate supervision and development through hiring and training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting expectations, evaluations, recognition, coaching, and fostering a workplace where associates feel they belong. Walmart lists an annual salary range of $85,000 to $120,000, with additional annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Certain positions may also receive regional pay-zone or complex-structure compensation. The listed primary location is 151 SW 184th Ave, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33029.
