About The Position

The Emerging Store Manager (ESM) is a developmental leadership assignment intended to prepare associates for potential Store Manager opportunities in Walmart US store operations. The associate trains across retail operations, people leadership, merchandising, financial management, customer experience, and community engagement. The assignment has no guaranteed timeframe, but is expected to last no longer than 12 to 18 months, with an expectation of progressing into a Store Manager position within that period. Associates must be willing to maintain mobility within their assigned region for Store Manager applications and potential placement. If a Store Manager role is not secured within the timeframe, next steps will depend on performance and business needs and may include placement in another role at a different level. Progress is evaluated against developmental milestones and competency assessments. The role supports store financial performance, merchandising and sales, customer service, staffing, community outreach, associate relations, management-team leadership, compliance, asset protection, safety, and execution of business plans. It also involves supervising and developing associates, collaborating with organizational stakeholders, and promoting Walmart policies, values, ethics, and standards. Additional job-related duties throughout the store may be assigned as necessary. The position offers an annual salary range of $65,000 to $110,000, with additional compensation that may include annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Certain positions may also receive regional pay zone or complex-structure compensation. Benefits described include health coverage, financial benefits, paid time off, education benefits, and other support, subject to eligibility and plan terms.
