About The Position

Mel Trotter Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit providing safe shelter and supportive services to people experiencing homelessness. The Emergency Shelter Case Manager helps shelter guests move toward stability through consistent, trauma-informed case management. The role provides guest-centered stabilization support and individualized goal planning, helps guests navigate housing options and community resources, and coordinates care with guest services teams and interdisciplinary partners. It also maintains accurate and timely documentation in HMIS and related systems and supports data integrity and reporting needs.

The position is on-site in Grand Rapids. The day includes coordinating priorities with teammates, meeting with guests, updating HMIS, collaborating with interdisciplinary partners, and helping guests plan next steps toward stability.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience serving an underserved population.
• Trauma-informed communication and de-escalation skills.
• Strong HMIS knowledge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Resident Tracker, or ability to learn these tools quickly.
• Organization, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and ability to juggle priorities.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent related experience.
