About The Position

Mel Trotter Ministries is seeking an Emergency Shelter Case Manager to provide consistent, trauma-informed case management for guests in its emergency shelter. The role supports guests in moving toward stability by addressing immediate needs, developing individualized goals, and connecting them with housing options, community resources, and referrals. The position is based on-site in Grand Rapids and involves coordinating with guest services teams and interdisciplinary partners, while maintaining accurate documentation and data in HMIS and related systems.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience serving an underserved population.
• Trauma-informed communication and de-escalation skills.
• Strong knowledge of HMIS.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Resident Tracker, or ability to learn these tools quickly.
• Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide guest-centered stabilization support and individualized goal planning.
• Help guests navigate housing options, community resources, and next-step referrals.
• Collaborate with guest services teams and interdisciplinary partners to coordinate care.

• Support data integrity and reporting needs.
