The Installation Technician performs a wide variety of installation duties on client technology projects and is a key field position responsible for much of the work completed in client buildings. The technician coordinates with project management, field superintendents, and others to understand project responsibilities, interprets drawing packages, installs system components, and makes on-site modifications as needed. Installations may include displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, and electronic security systems. The position may also provide guidance to Associate Installation Technicians. The technician performs tasks on client job sites with little supervision. On smaller projects, the role may coordinate with clients, contractors, and subcontractors and requires sound judgment, diplomacy, and communication with stakeholders. A project manager and site supervisor are generally available to answer questions. The work regularly involves construction sites, where the technician is responsible for personal safety, following site safety regulations, and wearing appropriate PPE. The technician typically spends at least 60% of the time on their feet and must be able to move around construction sites. When not at construction sites, work takes place in normal office conditions. Frequent travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Local travel to job sites within a two-hour drive each way usually accounts for 70–90% of travel, while remote travel may reach 30% at times; 10% remote travel is required regularly. The employee must use their own vehicle and receives mileage reimbursement at the current corporate rate.
