About the position
This job is for an ELA Curriculum Framework Developer for grades 6-8. The role involves creating student-facing and tutor-facing ELA lessons using standards-aligned and research-based curriculum. The position is remote and requires literacy specialists with deep knowledge of reading comprehension instructional best practices. The developer will be responsible for assembling a scope and sequence that covers reading comprehension, language & vocabulary, and writing, and will collaborate with a Literacy Specialist for planning and feedback. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in education or a related field, 2+ years of relevant experience in ELA curriculum development, and familiarity with CCSS and other state-specific ELA standards.
Responsibilities
- Utilize standards cross-walking tools and ELA expertise to assemble a 6-8 scope and sequence that covers reading comprehension, language & vocabulary, and writing
- Meet regularly with Literacy Specialist for planning and feedback sessions; integrate feedback into scope and sequence tasks
- Follow project plan timelines for submitting and revising scope and sequence tasks
- Create student-facing and tutor-facing ELA lessons for grades 6-8
- Break down complex subjects into engaging, clear, concise, and student-friendly language
- Have deep knowledge of grades 6-8 reading comprehension instructional best practices
- Have a Bachelor's degree in education or a directly related field
- Have 2+ years of relevant experience with 6-8 ELA curriculum development
- Be familiar with CCSS and other state-specific ELA standards and instructional methods
- Have experience with MS Office, Google Drive
- Have experience working remotely
