ELA Reading Comprehension Curriculum Developer (Grades 6-8) - Contract

We are seeking an ELA Curriculum Framework Developer for grades 6-8 to create student-facing and tutor-facing ELA lessons. This remote contract position requires literacy specialists with deep knowledge of reading comprehension instructional best practices, as well as content writers who can effectively communicate complex subjects in a student-friendly manner. The role involves utilizing standards cross-walking tools and ELA expertise to develop a scope and sequence for reading comprehension, language & vocabulary, and writing. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in education or a related field, 2+ years of relevant experience in ELA curriculum development, and familiarity with CCSS and state-specific ELA standards.

• Utilize standards cross-walking tools and ELA expertise to assemble a 6-8 scope and sequence that covers reading comprehension, language & vocabulary, and writing
• Meet regularly with Literacy Specialist for planning and feedback sessions; integrate feedback into scope and sequence tasks
• Follow project plan timelines for submitting and revising scope and sequence tasks
• Create student-facing and tutor-facing ELA lessons for grades 6-8
• Break down complex subjects into engaging, clear, concise, and student-friendly language
• Have deep knowledge of grades 6-8 reading comprehension instructional best practices
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in education or a directly related field
• Have 2+ years of relevant experience with 6-8 ELA curriculum development
• Be familiar with CCSS and other state-specific ELA standards and instructional methods
• Have experience with MS Office, Google Drive
• Be able to work remotely
