About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the EDUC 5P31 course, 'Families, School and Community Collaboration in Education,' within the Department of Educational Studies and Masters of Education program. This is a part-time, contract position for the Fall 2026 academic term, running from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. The role involves teaching graduate-level students, preparing lectures, providing student consultation, marking assignments, and administering the course. The instructor will be expected to use Brock's provided email for communications and complete a compulsory online tutorial. Commitment to responsible time management, including punctuality and course structuring, is essential. The position requires 1.5 hours per week for individual student consultations (office hours).

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD) in Educational Studies, Community Education, Educational Policy Studies or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching graduate courses on school, family, community partnerships, collaborative educational leadership and community engagement in education in a university setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in family, school and community collaboration, inclusive educational leadership, and community-engaged educational practice
  • Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence at the graduate university level, official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; and/or references.
  • Skills related to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course, as required.
  • Competence in the use of email, Brightspace/D2L, internet, common office software (e.g. Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment.

  • Complete the compulsory Brock instructor online tutorial prior to the first class (about 1 hour)
  • Commitment to responsible time management (e.g. course structuring, punctuality for lectures)
  • Available for individual consultation with students (e.g. office hours 1.5 hours per week)
  • Ability to work independently without immediate direct supervision
  • Active participation in curriculum development
  • Sharing of responsibilities in careful test preparation
  • Student assessment
  • Prompt and accurate marking
