About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the course EDUC 5P50, Foundations of Educational Psychology, within the Department of Educational Studies & Masters of Education. This is a part-time position for the Fall 2026 academic term, running from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with an estimated 195 nominal hours. The instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, instructing students, providing consultation, marking assignments, and administering the course. This includes non-classroom work such as preparing lecture material, holding office hours, managing teaching assistants, and completing a compulsory online tutorial. The role requires commitment to responsible time management and availability for student consultations.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD) in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching graduate courses on the foundations of educational psychology and learning, development and motivation courses in a university setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in the psychological foundations of teaching and learning
  • Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence at the graduate university level, official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; and/or references.
  • Ability to work independently without immediate direct supervision.
  • Competence in the use of email, Brightspace/D2L, internet, common office software (e.g. Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment.

  • Skills related to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course, as required.

  • Commitment to responsible time management (e.g. course structuring, punctuality for lectures)
  • Available for individual consultation with students (e.g. office hours 1.5 hours per week)
  • Active participation in curriculum development
  • Sharing of responsibilities in careful test preparation
  • Student assessment
  • Prompt and accurate marking
