About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for EDUC 5P92, An Introduction to Educational Research, within the Department of Educational Studies & Masters of Education. This is a temporary appointment for the Fall 2026 term, from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. The nominal hours for this position are 195. The instructor will be responsible for preparing lectures, conducting class instruction, consulting with students, marking and grading assignments, and managing course administration. This includes duties such as holding office hours, meeting with teaching assistants, and handling grade appeals and academic dishonesty cases. The instructor is required to use a Brock email address for all communications and complete a compulsory online tutorial prior to the first class. Commitment to responsible time management, including course structuring and punctuality, is expected. The instructor will be available for individual student consultations, with 1.5 hours per week allocated for office hours.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD) in Educational Studies, Educational Psychology, Curriculum Studies, Higher and Postsecondary Education or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching graduate courses on the foundations of educational research and inquiry in educational contexts in a university setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in educational research design and methodology and experience designing, conducting and disseminating educational research
  • Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence at the graduate university level, official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; and/or references.
  • Ability to work independently without immediate direct supervision
  • Skills related to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course, as required.
  • Competence in the use of email, Brightspace/D2L, internet, common office software (e.g. Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment.
