About the position
The Information is offering a six-month paid Editorial Fellowship for early-stage reporters interested in business and tech journalism. The program provides an opportunity to develop business reporting skills by working with a team of award-winning journalists and editors. Fellows will hone their skills in source development, beat reporting, financial analysis, journalism ethics, and writing. The role has the potential to convert to a full-time job at the end of the fellowship. The deadline for applying is October 1, and a decision will be announced by November 15.
Responsibilities
- Develop business reporting skills through a six-month paid program
- Hone skills in source development, beat reporting, financial analysis, journalism ethics, and writing
- Publish a range of articles for website and email subscribers, including earnings briefs, features, interviews, and newsletters
- Collaborate with experienced reporters and editors to write about a variety of companies and topics in the tech industry
- Work out of bureaus in New York or San Francisco
- Encourage people from traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, particularly people of color
- Submit a resume and cover letter explaining interest in The Information, journalism experience, interest in business or tech reporting, and links or attachments with clips.
Requirements
- Looking for early-stage reporters interested in business and tech journalism
- Some experience in reporting, including at college newspapers or other outlets
- Willingness to work out of bureaus in New York or San Francisco
- Strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, particularly people of color
- Submit a resume and cover letter explaining interest in The Information, journalism experience including academic work, interest in business or tech reporting, and links or attachments with clips
