About the position
The Information is seeking an editor to oversee their Opinion section and related projects. The editor will be responsible for curating, surfacing, and sourcing Opinion pieces from The Information's community and beyond. They will shape the conversation around complex and important issues in business, science, and policy, and will forge connections with subscribers through the Forum section. The ideal candidate should have extensive editing experience, a deep knowledge of technology and business, and connections to industry leaders.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Opinion section and related projects
- Edit leading entrepreneurs, executives, and thinkers on technology, business, and media topics
- Curate, surface, and source Opinion pieces from The Information's community and beyond
- Connect Opinion writers with Silicon Valley luminaries and interesting writers in business
- Surface important conversations in tech between executives, investors, regulators, and scholars
- Forge connections with subscribers through the Forum section
- Stimulate discussions in the Forum section
- Identify ideas and writers that merit a broader audience
- Have 3+ years of extensive editing experience
- Have previous experience with Opinion pieces (a plus)
- Possess a deep knowledge of technology and business
- Have connections to companies, executives, entrepreneurs, funders, researchers, and thinkers in the industry
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree
- Demonstrate persistence, organization, and an interest in rolling up your sleeves
Requirements
- 3+ years of extensive editing experience; previous experience with Opinion pieces is a plus
- A deep knowledge of technology and business, and connections to the companies, executives, entrepreneurs, funders, researchers, and thinkers driving the industry
- Bachelor's Degree
