About the position
The Information is offering a six-month paid Editorial Fellowship for early-career journalists interested in business and tech journalism. The fellowship provides an opportunity to develop reporting skills and work alongside experienced journalists and editors in covering the tech industry and its impact on society. Fellows will have the chance to publish a range of articles, from earnings briefs to features and interviews, and collaborate on various topics within the industry. The fellowship also offers the potential for a full-time job conversion at the end of the program.
Responsibilities
- Hone skills at source development, beat reporting, financial analysis, journalism ethics, and writing
- Publish a range of articles for the website and email subscribers, including earnings briefs, features, interviews, and newsletters
- Collaborate with highly experienced reporters and editors
- Write about a variety of companies and topics, including social media, venture investing, e-commerce, and advertising
- Develop business reporting skills
- Cover the tech industry and how it is changing society
- Convert the fellowship role to a full-time job opportunity
Requirements
- Early-stage reporters
- Interested in business and tech journalism
- Some experience in journalism
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to develop sources
- Knowledge of beat reporting
- Financial analysis skills
- Familiarity with journalism ethics
- Ability to publish a range of articles
- Collaborative mindset
