About the position
Recorded Future is seeking an editor to join their research team, Insikt Group. The ideal candidate will have a passion for reading and writing, with strong attention to detail. They will be responsible for managing multiple projects across various topics, delivering world-class analytic products on deadline. The editor will work closely with analysts to improve their writing style, grammar, and narrative flow, while also formatting content according to design standards. Additionally, they will collaborate with internal partners in Marketing and Corporate Communications to support public-facing materials and campaigns. This role requires excellent communication and organization skills, as well as proficiency in English and Microsoft or Google office software suites.
Responsibilities
- Learn and contribute to the in-house style guide
- Edit research reports and other content according to the in-house style guide
- Maintain and develop publication workflows for various publication types
- Improve the writing style, narrative flow, and grammar of analysts, some of whom are not first-language English speakers
- Provide feedback and direction to research authors and reviewers regarding voice, spelling and grammatical correctness, narrative flow, and logical consistency
- Format written and graphical content of intelligence products according to design standards
- Manage multiple production timelines to ensure timely delivery of research
- Coordinate with internal partners in Marketing and Corporate Communications for support in public-facing materials, campaigns, and press engagements
- Publish drafts on a web-based content management system (CMS)
- Present publication workflows, style guides, and writing tips to the global analyst team
- Practice discretion by maintaining client and analyst confidentiality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or the social sciences
- Three years of experience editing long-form research and editorials
- Native proficiency in English
- A passion for reading and literary analysis
- A clear, engaging, jargon-free writing and editing style that can communicate technical concepts to expert and non-expert audiences
- Willingness to independently collaborate and communicate with all stakeholders to solve editorial issues and address requests from authors and management
- Superb communication skills
- Organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects across multiple time zones
- Proficiency with Microsoft or Google office software suites
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat
- Master's degree in English, humanities, or social sciences or five years of experience editing in a journalistic role (highly desirable)
- Proficiency in other languages (Russian, Chinese, Arabic, etc.) (highly desirable)
- Experience editing for writers whose native language is other than English (highly desirable)
- Familiarity with and experience applying the Intelligence Cycle (highly desirable)
- A foundational understanding of the information security industry and key issues in both cyber and international security (highly desirable)
- Previous experience editing for a cybersecurity organization (highly desirable)
- Proficient with Google Workspace (Gmail, Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) (highly desirable)
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (highly desirable)
- Previous experience with JIRA and Zendesk ticketing systems (highly desirable)
