About The Position

The Raleigh Improv is seeking a Door Host/Hostess to provide a high-quality guest experience during live shows in accordance with Improv standards. The role includes managing the entrance, checking identification, greeting and seating guests, monitoring the showroom during performances, helping manage intoxication and unruly behavior, and supporting fellow team members. The position requires flexible availability, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; some college.
One to three years of experience in a restaurant or club environment.
ServSafe Food Handler and TIPS or LEAD Certificate, in compliance with county or state requirements.
Friendly and outgoing demeanor, with excellent communication skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to accommodate scheduling needs and requirements.

Responsibilities

Manage the entrance before, during, and after performances.
Check guests’ age identification to ensure compliance with show age restrictions and state liquor laws.
Greet guests and seat them at tables according to the seating process.
Ensure the club is seated appropriately for each event.
Monitor the showroom during shows and prevent guests from talking, heckling comedians, taking pictures, or recording with cell phones.
Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking.
Assist management with removing unruly guests from the showroom.
Encourage customers to stop drinking or arrange transportation for intoxicated patrons.
Assist fellow team members as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
