About The Position

The Raleigh Improv is seeking a Door Host/Hostess to provide a high-quality guest experience during live shows in accordance with Improv standards. This role manages the entrance and showroom, welcomes and seats guests, enforces age restrictions and venue rules, and helps address guest safety concerns, including excessive drinking and unruly behavior. The Door Host also supports fellow team members and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college.
• 1–3 years of experience in a restaurant or club environment.
• ServSafe Food Handler and TIPS or LEAD Certificate, in accordance with county or state requirements.
• Friendly and outgoing, with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and accommodate scheduling needs and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the entrance before, during, and after performances.
• Check age identification to ensure compliance with show age restrictions and state liquor laws.
• Greet guests and seat them at tables according to the seating process.
• Ensure the club is seated appropriately for each event.
• Monitor the showroom during shows to prevent talking, heckling comedians, taking pictures, and recording with cell phones.
• Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking.
• Assist management with removing unruly guests from the showroom.
• Take steps to persuade customers to stop drinking or arrange transportation for intoxicated patrons.
• Assist fellow team members as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
