About The Position

The Door Captain assists with guest, hotel, and department needs while delivering service in accordance with Ojai Valley Inn standards and regulations. The role provides guests with a warm, hospitable greeting and helps create a positive first and last impression. The Door Captain professionally orients resort guests to the property and offers services based on their needs. The position also ensures guest vehicles are recorded and registered to the correct rooms, damage is documented on tickets, and vehicles are handled carefully and safely. The role leads and supports the valet team by managing shift checklists, helping train staff, and auditing service standards. The Door Captain handles arriving and departing guests, including greeting guests, parking and retrieving vehicles, and providing luggage assistance. Associates may also be assigned other job-related duties by their supervisor.

Requirements

At least one year of previous experience in a similar position at a Four- or Five-Diamond hotel.
Valid California driver's license and a clean driving record.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
Ability to write legibly.
Proven ability to motivate a team.
Experience training staff members.
Ability to think clearly and exercise good judgment in pressure situations.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a Door Captain or Valet Supervisor at an upscale hotel or resort.

Responsibilities

Greet arriving and departing guests, park and retrieve cars, provide luggage assistance, and ensure the security of vehicles in valet.
Provide professional, service-oriented assistance to guests and employees.
Orient resort guests to the property and offer services according to their needs.
Record and register guest vehicles to the appropriate rooms, document vehicle damage on tickets, and handle vehicles with care and attention to safety.
Manage shift checklists and ensure they are completed with the valet team.
Perform internal audits of damage checks and record data as needed.
Audit Forbes standards for the department.
Maintain knowledge of scheduled daily activities, daily arrivals and departures, hotel features, services and amenities, and outlet operating hours.
Give directions or arrange transportation for guests.
Comply with Ojai Valley Inn standards and regulations to support safe and efficient hotel operations.
Maintain regular attendance and meet appearance and grooming standards, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
