About The Position

The Donor Greeter supports Goodwill Houston’s donated goods program by providing donors with a friendly, helpful, and professional experience. The role accepts, sorts, and processes incoming donations according to organizational guidelines, handling them efficiently, accurately, and cost-effectively to support Goodwill Houston’s mission.

The position involves greeting donors, collecting and sorting donations, handling furniture and equipment, recording donations and issuing receipts, and helping maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas. The Donor Greeter follows safety procedures, uses required personal protective equipment, and supports other operational needs as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively and interact well with individuals with diverse personalities and communication styles.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to perform regular twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work in moderate indoor noise and with exposure to outside temperatures.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet each donor promptly, show appreciation, and invite them to return.
• Collect donations using donation carts and sort items into the required categories.
• Accept furniture donations, place them in staging areas, and help move them to the sales floor once priced.
• Ensure full raw and outlet equipment is properly labeled during setup.
• Operate pallet jacks to move full gaylords and load outbound trailers safely and productively.
• Record donations accurately using the donor tablet and issue completed donation receipts to donors.
• Use designated personal protective equipment, including high-visibility safety vests and cut-resistant gloves.
• Request additional supplies from management when supplies are running low.
• Assist with loading and unloading equipment as needed.
• Help maintain the safety and security of associates, donors, and company property.
• Perform necessary janitorial work.
• Report all work incidents and injuries immediately.
• Demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, a friendly and cooperative attitude, and effective teamwork.
• Follow Goodwill Houston policies and procedures, loss prevention and safety regulations, guiding principles, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Maintain punctuality, dependability, professional appearance, and confidentiality.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards and keep aisles and pathways to fire exits clear.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
